Hey, BeYou friends! Thank you for the feedback on the previous update! We were happy to read and reply to your comments. We’re as excited as you are to get the chair and enjoy sitting in a brand new way.

Today we’re back with another update that’s equally thrilling. You will find out what stage we’re in and all the progress we’ve made. We’ll also share new pictures from the supplier factories we’re working with.

Last minor tweaks finished!

This was mentioned in the last update, but let’s do a quick recap.

Due to the pistons we added to the wings, we had to make tiny adjustments to make sure anyone can use the handles effortlessly.

That is why we switched the actioning motion from pull to push. They’re easy to use and they improve the overall experience with the chair. Done!

Backrest changes: also done!

We’ve always tried to implement any ideas that would make the chair even better.

It’s what we’ve done with the backrest as well. To be more specific, this time we have also inserted a piston in the backrest to make the up and down movement easier and smoother than ever

It was successful and we’re really happy about it. Now you can move it up and down with two fingers.

In this video, we are not showing the final version of the chair in full. As you can see, it’s not even painted. And we’re using a generic wheelbase, which is NOT the one we’re using for the BeYou Chair.

We’re only sharing this to specifically show you how easy it is to move the backrest up and down. The rest of the chair should be disregarded. See the videos below:

The three golden samples are being made

At the beginning of this week, we started making the three golden samples that will go to BIFMA to be officially tested. They will be ready in about two weeks. Our engineer is making sure all processes are streamlined and is aiming to finish the golden samples faster.

As always, we’re more than happy to welcome you into the process, which is why you can see some pictures below.

To make the three golden samples, we are working with two suppliers for the metal parts, two suppliers for the wooden parts, one supplier for the plastic parts (which are made in-house) and one supplier for the cushion foam (in-house for the fabric and upholstery).

We are working with two suppliers at once because we want to have options that will allow us to choose the very best one.

Below you can see some pictures from the factories we visited.

These pictures and videos don’t show the parts to be made for us since the BeYou Chair has to be certified first, but we are sharing them to take you on the journey and for transparency reasons. Our team member in China has visited every single one of these factories in person and took these pictures and videos for us to share them with you:

Production (tooling stage starting now)

With all the tweaks done and the factory tests successfully passed, we can now say we have entered the production stage. Woo-hoo! The first step in that is tooling.

Usually the tooling starts after the official certification is done, but because we want to save time, we are doing the tooling at the same time with the certification.

This way, by the time the certification is done, we plan to have a big part of the molds (if not all of them) already finalized.

In the tooling process, the factories we’re working with are creating molds for all the chair components in order to prepare for mass production.

BeYou Rough Timeline Estimates*

Second half of November (already in progress) - have golden samples** completely finalized and sent to the testing center. Start of official testing and certification.Second half of November - kick-off manufacturing toolingSecond half of November - raw materials ordering (metals, wood, plastic, foam, fabrics)End of December - finalizing the certificationChinese New Year - from January 10th to February 10th manufacturing stops completelyFebruary 10th Onwards - full manufacturing, packaging, dispatch to fulfillment warehouse and the start of fulfillment

* As always, these are still estimates, and every stage of the process is subject to a QC audit. If any other challenges or delays come up along the way, we will inform you so that you are always aware of the progress we are making behind the scenes.

** Golden Samples are exactly the same as the final product, in every single way. The Golden Samples set the standard for mass production and are used by the factory and Quality Control (QC) agency to compare with products taken randomly from the production line to make sure they’re 100% identical to the standard we (and you) expect from the BeYou chair.

*** We hear you. We feel you. Some of the delays have been difficult to deal with. This is why we increased the estimated timeline a bit, to account for anything unforeseen. We aim to surprise you, but for now this is the new official estimated timeline.
